What does all of this activity in Downtown Tyler mean? Progress. There’s a lot going in the busyness of the workdays and weekends – at Heart of Tyler we’re excited to feed that momentum, to keep our finger on the pulse and to spread the good news about everything that’s going on in this part of our community.
Encompassing just a few square miles of the City of Tyler, downtown is home to scores of retailers, restaurants, businesses and residents, each one making unique contributions to the energy here. Live music and theater, fine dining and home cooking, artwork and adventure, entertainment outlets and educational, shopping and service – it’s all here, and it’s Heart of Tyler’s privilege to keep citizens and visitors informed about all the opportunities available to them in Downtown Tyler.
We want to be the go-to resource, the primary conduit of information on this area of Tyler, and we’ve crafted an ongoing marketing campaign and social media presence to tell our city, state, country and beyond about how we’re keeping busy.
The new date for Heart of Tyler’s 2020 Black Tie Bingo event is September 19, 2020. It’s the 13th annual fundraiser in Downtown Tyler, all proceeds benefiting Heart of Tyler and our efforts to revitalize this essential area of our community.
Black Tie Bingo is an evening of fun and games focused on entertaining our supporters and raising funds we can use in ongoing revitalization efforts downtown. The event raises about $20,000 annually.
We’ve been forced to reschedule this year’s event due to COVID-19, but we’re still excited about the opportunities and fun that await us in the Regions Bank Lobby at 100 E. Ferguson. We’ll have four High Stakes BINGO games as well as a silent auction, magic, and some mini-games too. There will be hors’doeuvres and desserts in addition to an assortment of libations.
Please join us and know your generosity is well-invested in the many projects and programs Heart of Tyler fuels in this beautiful downtown.

Artist Dace Lucia Kidd’s went big for her first mural in Downtown Tyler: at 11-feet tall by 50-feet wide, “Eyes of Tyler” is hard to miss on South Broadway Avenue at Elm Street, dominated by a pair of eyes and roses.
The mural’s design was selected from entries in a contest sponsored by Heart of Tyler and Invest in Tyler.
Unveiling the piece in Summer 2017, Kidd said, “My image, ‘Eyes of Tyler,’ is inspired by the concept of shared beauty. It is intended to communicate that there is beauty within all of us if you just look. My goal is to encourage everyone to create what is next in their life, to search for what is beautiful within everyone, while being aware of the beauty in Tyler, and particularly in the downtown area.”
